What a great send off from Cape Town albeit crew were very subdued. We are all very aware of the enormity of the challenge ahead- the Southern Ocean, the roaring forties
We have had any number of briefings about this leg of our round the world adventure and each time I hear about it the more I get butterflies in my tummy- similar to those before a big bike race… So it is just a healthy dose of adrenalin I tell myself.

The race start and parade overlooked by Table Mountain was a quiet affair, warm and sunny with a well behaved sea. And so the calm seas have continued. The lull before the storm?
However the weather forecast shows quite a nasty low front during the evening or night. The wind might just be a tad frisky including gusts of 50 knots.
And so here I am lying in my bunk contemplating the next stage. In the meantime however I think that a good sleep is required.
I’ll write more soon x
